(Surrey, BC) Ten years ago today the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation/Fondation Chaise Roulante Canada was launched with the intent to help transform the lives of people around the globe with the gift of mobility. With the passage of time there have been many lessons learned, innovations pioneered, and bridges of friendship forged across continents.
It is with tremendous gratitude to those who have helped along the way, that we celebrate this amazing milestone. With the generosity and determination of our partners we have positively impacted over 350,000 lives in 40 countries through the delivery of brand new wheelchairs! What may seem like a simple tool is actually a valuable gift for a better life that brings with it hope, dignity and freedom.
In the words of physician and writer John Andrew Holmes, “There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.”
